Former Public Works Building
Invitation to Tender
Interested parties are invited to submit qualified tenders for the purchase of the property known as the former Public Works Shop, located at 615 4th Avenue, Carberry, MB. The property includes the former shop, as well as a detached 2 car garage, located on the southwest corner of the property.
The shop had an engineering assessment completed in March of 2018. The results of this study forced the closure of the west half of the facility, due to condemnation by the engineering firm. The assessment states:
?BMCE Recommends that the building area within the footprint of the building addition completed by the relocation of the former hockey arena is immediately removed from service and the continued use and occupancy is prohibited due to the structurally unsafe condition of the roof framing structure.?
There are many recommendations for the entire building, and a copy of the assessment can be provided to interested parties upon request.
It is the understanding of Council that the building known as the former Public Works Shop will be demolished at the expense of the successful bidder, or that the facility will undergo major renovations, under the guidance of an appropriately certified engineering firm.
Should the successful bidder decide to demolish the building, please be advised that no asbestos testing or remediation has been completed, and the expense of such testing, remediation, or removal will be done at the purchaser?s expense, and may be required prior to demolition. All environmental testing and remediation required will be at the purchaser?s expense.
Interested parties are invited to participate in a site visit on August 19th, 2019, at 9 am. Meet in front of the center man-door on the North side of the building.
