The Agronomist studies ways to improve on the process of growing farm crops in order to increase crop productivity, nutritional value, and quality of seed. This position is characterized by the inclusion of work that requires an understanding of both theories and principles. The responsibility includes managing multiple product lines, inventories, pricing and tracking of products offered for sale, fertilizer, seed and herbicide. The Agronomist will execute strategies and promote sales, as well as consult with growers on services and products offered. At this level, will be performed under general supervision and the role is expected to independently solve moderately complex issues while referring more complex problems to a higher-level staff.
The Market Development Agronomist (MDA) in Cargill plays an essential role in creating demand with farm customers and working to meet the margin performance of their partner sales territories. They do so by sharing knowledge and insights to help customers to make good crop input purchase decisions and providing technical knowledge to their crop inputs location team. They are Cargill?s location crop input and crop production technical leaders, play a pivotal role in enabling our crop input sales team to sell more effectively and efficiently, as well as ensuring Cargill is the preferred source of information and advice to our farm customers.
This position will be either located in Dauphin, MB or Swan River, MB depending on where the successful candidate resides or will look to reside if given the opportunity.
? You will plan and experiment with or studies field-crop problems and develops new methods of growing crops to secure more efficient production, higher yield, and improved quality.
? Carrying out in-market, demand creation tactics such as Field Tests, Field Huddles, crop input marketing content creation support and leading the use of new tools and practices.
? Providing agronomy technical leadership to location teams, including supporting the training needs of sales reps and retail managers.
? Conducting planned business development activities to grow crop input sales with targeted customers
? Diploma OR Bachelor?s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field
? 2+ years of directly related work experience
? Have proven working knowledge of plants, crops, soil, and related area
? Ability to work overtime and weekends when needed
? Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
? Proficiency with the MS Office suite
? Active listening and verbal and written communication skills
? CCA designation
