Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba is a private, non-profit, community-based Agency that offers effective family strengthening programs and preventative resources to Westman communities with services that seek to support families as well as protect children.

Posting A (for individuals with a Bachelor of Social Work or Masters of Social Work degree):

Child & Family Services of Western Manitoba is currently seeking qualified individuals with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or a Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree to fill full-time indefinite term positions. As a Social Worker in Brandon, Manitoba or a surrounding rural area, you would be responsible for providing a wide range of services, including the provision of family counselling and child protection services and, where appropriate, services to children in the Agency's care. Regular office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some flex-time expected.

Qualifications:

  • B.S.W. or M.S.W., with willingness to register with the Manitoba College of Social Workers;
  • Post-degree related experience in the child welfare field is considered a definite asset;
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act;
  • Effective assessment, interviewing, relationship building, problem solving & organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of child development, separation & attachment issues, parenting methods & casework practices;
  • Ability to work in a team environment & independently without prompting;
  • Successful completion of a Child Abuse Registry check, Criminal Record check, Prior Contact check & a Driver's Abstract check.

Posting B (for individuals with a completed social sciences degree and the genuine interest in becoming registered with the Manitoba College of Social Workers within a 4-year window, which may require the individual to complete a BSW within that timeframe):

Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba is currently accepting applications from reliable individuals with a completed social sciences degree who have the skills to effectively manage a child welfare caseload by assessing risk-level, and ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families in a professional capacity. As a Family Service Worker in Brandon, Manitoba or a surrounding rural area, you would be responsible for providing a wide range of services, including the provision of family counselling and child protection services and, where appropriate, services to children in the Agency's care. Regular office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm with some flex-time expected. **Successful applicants who do not hold a Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) or Masters of Social Work (M.S.W.) will be expected to work towards becoming registered through the Manitoba College of Social Workers (M.C.S.W.) and become registered within four years of employment with the Agency. Qualifications:

  • Completed social sciences degree (i.e. Bachelor of Human Ecology, Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Science with Psychology and Sociology);
  • Dedicated to becoming registered with the Manitoba College of Social Workers (i.e. BSW distance program enrollment or Substantial Equivalency registration route requirements);
  • Post social science degree related experience in the field is considered a definite asset;
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act;
  • Effective assessment, interviewing, relationship building, problem solving and organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of child development, separation and attachment issues, parenting methods and casework practices;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Valid Manitoba Driver’s License;
  • Successful completion of a Child Abuse Registry check, Criminal Record check, Prior Contact check and a Driver’s Abstract check.
