Essential Skills Training Workshop

Workplace Education Manitoba (WEM) is running two free workshops called "Speaking To The Skills I Have" from Monday April 26th 2021 to Thursday April 29th 2021 and Monday May 17th 2021 to Thursday May 20th 2021. Both courses will be online and self-paced with phone calls from the service providers (teachers). This course is aimed at assisting individuals with sharpening their talking points for resumes, networking opportunities and job interviews. The overall goal is to assist learners in successfully gaining employment, but will also further enhance their skills to ensure they maintain sustainable employment and further their career goals.

The course consists of 7 modules. Each module is 45-60 minutes in length. Each learner will have 3 1-hour debrief sessions with a service provider available at the start, middle and end of course. Below are brief descriptions on each module;

MODULE 1: Give employment value to your skills, abilities, and attributes

MODULE 2: Tools to enhance your Essential Skills and personal management basics

MODULE 3: Steps to follow as a conscious reflector: gathering your raw materials

MODULE 4: Steps to follow as a conscious reflector: translate and connect your skills, abilities, and attributes in a way that an employer understands

MODULE 5: Provide evidence and communicate your skills to your next potential employer

MODULE 6: Listen and speak with confidence

MODULE 7: Master an interview that leads to employment

This course is for:

those in the process of applying for employment;

those in transition from one type of employment to another;

those who want to enhance their talking points for their resume; and

those who want to build confidence for networking and job interviews.

The course is free of charge and there will be a certificate of completion provided at the end of the course. This course is also smartphone compatible.
