**NOTE**

This is a part-time term position to August 31, 2023 and is subject to layoff or reduced hours during periods of slow activity with a possibility for yearly contract renewals. A Criminal Record Check is required, and successful candidates will be responsible for any service charges incurred.

Schedule is Saturday and Sundays, 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

DUTIES:

Under the direction and supervision of the Lead Cook and/or Food Service Manager, the Line Cook will perform routine, repetitive tasks such as: readying ingredients for complex dishes, slicing and dicing vegetables, composing cold items, cutting and grinding meats, poultry, and seafood in preparation for cooking. The Line Cook is responsible for cooking, grilling, frying, and food preparation using a variety of pots, pans, cutlery, and other equipment, as well as maintaining cooking procedures and portion control, and other related duties as assigned.

?REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Successful completion of High School or equivalent, a Red Seal certificate in cooking from a recognized institution is preferred and three years of experience in commercial quantity cooking and food preparation, or a comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Five years of experience in commercial quantity cooking may be considered in lieu of certification. Certification in Safe Food Handling is required. Experience using a variety of kitchen equipment, and experience with all aspects of Special Functions, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions. Must be able to work well under pressure both independently and in a team environment. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, leadership and a strong desire to succeed. Must have basic math skills; working with numbers and measurements, accurately and consistently. Must present a clean and tidy appearance and follow all Manitoba Health regulations concerning hair and dress.
