Hotel Assistant Manager

Position Overview

The Assistant Manager under the direction of the General Manager, will primarily be responsible for assisting the General Manager with the overall daily operations of the company including office management, technology, human resources, health and safety, contracts and administrative staff. This position will help create company wide policies and procedures ensuring they meet or exceed compliance requirements and best practice standards.

Key /Responsibilities

  • Aid the General Manager, with the support of the Supervisors/Managers, in directing the overall daily office operations including office management, technology, human resources, health and Safety, contracts and administrative staff.
  • Help in creating hotel policies and procedures ensuring they meet or exceed compliance requirements and best practice standards.
  • Contribute to the Planning of the audit of the financial statements.
  • Act as a liaison for service providers, on operational matters, and with the community to ensure smooth service of the business.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of employees.
  • Assign employees to duties.
  • Recruit and train new employees to guarantee their performance is in line with company standards.
  • Authorize payments by cheque and order merchandise.
  • Prepare employees? work schedules and supervise the employees.
  • Prepare reports on rooms sales volumes.
  • Organize and maintain inventory.
  • Resolve problems that arise, such as customer complaints and supply shortages.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • 2 Years previous supervisory experience in customer facing environment
  • Must lead by example and be a role model
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively and adapt to change
  • Ability to work in an environment that encourages and fosters teamwork, participation, creativity, openness, and mutual respect
  • Minimum of a Canadian Grade 12 equivalent 
  • Be a hands-on leader who strives to ensure best customer service provided to our guests
  • Must be able to multi-task, manage multiple priorities at once, and succeed in a high-pressure environment in an organized fashion
