Are you an experienced tax preparer who enjoys all facets of preparing personal income tax returns? Do you appreciate the benefits of utilizing technology to its full extent in servicing clients? Are you generally a person who is attentive to detail, curious in nature and appreciates the completion of a job well done?

 

We are looking for someone with proven tax preparation experience. You do not need to possess a designation for this position, but it would be an asset. CPA?s or CPA students are welcome to apply. Experience in preparing farm and business returns would also be an asset

 

The Position

This experienced tax preparer would work with our tax team within our firm. General responsibilities would include:

  • Participating with organizing, leading and inspiring our T1 preparation team to achieve an efficient and timely completion of our T1 personal tax season
  • Completing advanced tax returns that require additional skill and education
  • Reviewing tax returns prepared by other technicians
  • Sharing your experience with the tax team in the completion of tax returns
  • Working with the entire firm team in approaching tax season in an orderly and controlled manner
  • Fully understanding and embracing technological software and tools available for tax preparation
  • Encouraging and implementing new ideas to better serve our T1 clients
  • Carrying an assigned client base of T1 clients
  • At the conclusion of tax season, participating with the team through an effective and thoughtful critique and seek out improvements for the next season
  • In the off-season, should that apply to you, participating in all CRA reviews and preparation of farm support program applications

 

This could be a full-time position (working in our farm program preparation in the off-season), or a full-time seasonal position (working during tax season only) or full-time seasonal and part-time off-season.

 

The Ideal Candidate

An eager tax preparer that has preparation experience and tax preparation education (2 to 5 years experience preferred). A CPA designation or being a CPA student is not necessary but would be an asset to your application.

  • Has a strong understanding of how returns are prepared and reviewed
  • Has experience in dealing with CRA or willing to learn
  • Has accounting skills as it relates to the preparation of tax returns
  • Has experience in preparing all levels of personal returns including preparation of farm, business and rental statements
  • Has strong supervisory and training skills
  • Is driven to continue to learn and improve their skills
  • Is friendly, outgoing and wants to be an active participant in our team environment
  • Has incredibly strong work ethic with particular attention to project completion deadlines and a high quality of work
  • Enjoys dealing with clients in a friendly and respectful manner
  • Is neat, organized, attentive to detail and can prioritize quickly
  • Has excellent computer processing skills with a genuine interest to working in a paper-reduced and highly technological office
  • Has exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver?s license
  • Is motivated by a job well done
