Regina media is reporting that after tonight's first star performance in game 3 against the Regina Pats, Wheat Kings' Jayce Hawryluk collapsed with chest pains. Pats' play-by-play man Phil Andrews is reporting that ambulance was called and that Hawryluk is now alert and talking. Thoughts are with this very talented young man and hope we see him on the ice again real soon although when you hear of a story like this hockey comes a very distant second. To update, Wheat Kings have released the following from GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon: --------------------- "Jayce was taken to hospital after tonight's game. While concerned the club believes it is not serious. Until we have more information we can not pinpoint the cause. Jayce is resting comfortably." ---------------------
Wheat Kings might post more, but came across this Winnipeg Sun article with an update via quotes from McCrimmon: "Jayce played the game with no issues” ... “And then after the game, he was lightheaded, needed attention. He was having trouble catching his breath in the room. A doctor came in and they wanted to have him go for tests." .... "We don’t believe it to be serious, but just given the nature of what happened, he’s undergoing a series of tests which are taking place today and this afternoon." Article also indicates that contrary to reports, McCrimmon said Hawryluk did not collapse. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/03/27/wheat-kings-hawryluck-undergoing-tests-after-being-rushed-to-hospital Edited by Adam, 2014-03-27 15:33:02
