Greyhound announced as of the end of October it's ending its passenger bus and freight services in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and cancelling all but one route in B.C.  
 
As someone who relies on them for long distance travel I'm at a loss. I can't even imagine how this is going to affect people up North!

0 surprise as it is. I haven't used Greyhound in maybe 5 years. Their only east bound routes to Winnipeg were in the evening which didn't make it feasible for when I had to go to the city for meetings.  
 
Too bad rail transport on the prairies is non existent as well.

I haven't ridden a bus in 30 years, I used their shipping all the time. Yes ridership was down, but the shipping was a lifeline across the prairies especially. Feel bad for all those losing jobs.

Might be an opportunity for the Brandon Air Shuttle to expand their business by increasing their vehicle capacity for trips between Brandon and Winnipeg.

May be an opportunity for an independent to take of their delivery contracts in Manitoba. That alone would keep someone comfortable for a long time.

I know a few people who have been waiting patiently for the government to stop bailing these guys out so they'd disappear. As far as freight service is concerned communities will actually be served better and more frequently if they seek out the independent LOCAL couriers...I know a lot of towns that complained about there twice a week service and I told them there are 3 companies that come here everyday...why are you using the bus?

been dying for many years have cut so many routes its crazy it became an 8 hours bus ride to go to neepawa from brandon  
 
its sad i remember coming here on the bus years ago at all hours and u could at least sit inside stay warm and have a meal now u are lucky if u can sit in the terminal if u have no where to go while waiting on your bus
