LCD TV trouble

2 years ago I purchased a 42" LCD Toshiba TV. It is now off warranty and there are two dark grey lines running vertically on the screen. They appear more obvious on darker colors. I do not want to put out a lot of money to fix this as one place I talked to said it could be a dead panel and $1000 to fix. Does anyone have any idea what might have caused this or how it can be fixed. I have tried the old un plug re-boot method with no results. It is also on all inputs so it is not my HD source or anything like that.
