My wife and I retired last year and tossed around the idea of downsizing and selling our house in town and moving to the lake. We contacted a realtor from the 30 or 40 that advertise in the local paper. We had an idea what we wanted to get. Did the consultation and were satisfied with the feedback received. When it came to the paperwork the 6% commission was a turn off. However he was quick to offer 5% but that still was too high for us. Our house is in the $400k+ range so the idea of cutting a cheque for $20-25k wasn't going to happen. Yes I am aware the realtor does not keep the whole commission. Yesterday I saw a truck driving around with "3 Percent Realty" displayed on it. So I was curious and Googled it. Found a few listing on BREB for them. Appears to be a fairly new real estate brokerage that will list and sell your home for 3% commission. Which includes MLS exposure and everything that all the other big name companies offer. As well they offer a 20% buyers rebate, they'll cut you a cheque for 20% of the commission of the house you buy even if it is listed with a different company. The reviews online seem to be very positive and I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with the company. Definitely has got us thinking of selling again knowing that we will keep a little more money in our pockets after the sale. http://www.3percentrealty.ca/ Edited by Mr. Perfect, 2014-03-25 09:13:48
