Appreciate the thought but not really competition. Folks shouldn’t feel any different in discussing this event than say Ribfest.  
 
That doesn’t mean I won’t share as respectful as possible constructive criticism if my old brain churns out two cents it thinks might be helpful... for example as great and fun an event as Ribfest was I hope they up their game for kids next year!  
 
Hope all goes well later this month, we need more folks willing to stick their necks out to put on events like these.

Friendly reminder that food truck wars are this Friday and weekend. Will be cooler and wet on Saturday and Sunday.  
 
Pretty much same as last year. But let's show some Brandon love and support. There will be more trucks this year!

I think maybe they are counting on people parking in the town centre parkade? Unless they have that part of the street blocked off, then I’m not sure where to park.  
I just hope they protect that little parking lot (only holds 5 cars) by the princess apartments. No one except people attending that building better be parking there. I have a handicapped family member in there and I better be able to park and get to him easily. As well as his workers that come daily.  
So please people, don’t park in Princess buildings parking lots!!

Had heard that the Keystone parking lot was going to be the location this year which would have worked great. Parking downtown is not great the best of times so "Good Luck" as a lot of people will not attend just due to the location. A poor turnout may result in this being the last event which is a shame.

my point was not everyone attending is from Brandon what is someone wanting to bring in a family member who has mobility issues in the. ice parking lot food could be got and brought to a person running 2 blocks with food to someone with mobility issues is plain stupid and where can you drop someone off with mobility issues while you drive how far away and park? piss poor planning

Friday start is 5PM, then Saturday and Sunday start is 11am. Agree with the parking being an issue, I hope it turns out for them and we get another event like this next year, but in a better venue (Keystone grounds).

I would like to remind you that events aren't easy to plan and run.  
I know the two organizers of the event have spent a lot of time and money planning this great event out, and we are lucky to have it here in Brandon, snd should be thankful for the organizers instead of running them down.  
Do you think that all venue sites are free? It costs a lot to secure sites in town, and some locations also stipulate that they want some of the profit from event sales, which means events would likely have to charge admissions just to make a profit. Last I heard, this event is free to attend.  
Princess Park and area is a great venue site that will bring some positive energy and business to downtown Brandon, and I think people will be quite happy with the layout.  
As far as parking goes, there are several blocks around the location, and in all honesty, it wouldn't be any different as far as distance goes in relation to the space at one of the other locations people suggest using. You have to remember that this event has the potential to bring in tens of thousands of people.At other sites, you would also have to leave the vehicle in a designated parking area, and have to walk a good distance to get to the designated food areas.  
In all honesty, I think you have valid questions. However, your best bet would be to actively discuss the issues with the organizers directly. I am sure there are some very good suggestions you may have, and that they would be willing to listen to, and perhaps even provide solutions that you may find acceptable.  
Overall,this looks like an amazing event,one I am looking forward to, and one that I hope we all can enjoy.

I distanced out my travels from Ribfest at the Keystone. It was less than 100m walk. Ribfest at Discovery year before less than 170m walk. When they had food truck warz at the Vic in we traveled 3 blocks and there still wasn't light at the end of the tunnel for parking. We never ended up going. With my bad knees I can't walk multiple blocks to to go to an event. I will give it a shot and see what happens. The event in general sounds great, parking is my only concern.

If you think parking was bad at the Vic Inn, there'll be even less in the downtown area. My hopes are that eventually it will end up at the Keystone. If you're planning an event and boasting 10's of thousands of people attending, I can only think of one location in Brandon that will support that type of crowd.

I hope there is some gluten free options available.

IF there are that many people trying to park downtown on streets you will be ten or more blocks from the venue. I realize the actual site will be great but please do not try and say that if it was in the Keystone parking lot that parking would be just as difficult. You may be get just as close parking at the keystone and walking to Princess Park.

Last year, they ended up with something like 8 times the people they got. For the numbers they were expecting, it was a OK venue. For the numbers they got, it was horrible. Which is why they moved it. Your best bet will be park at the Town Centre.

Would taking a city bus be a solution to parking, etc?

At the amount of complaining! Both here and on Facebook. Has anyone contacted the organizers directly to ask if they’ve made arrangements to accommodate the needs patrons with physical disabilities?  
 
As of now only one lane of 8th st is blocked off and you are still able to get to the Town Centre parking lot. As long as the road blocks stay as they are right now throughout the weekend, parking should be accessible in the Town Centre parkade.  
 
I think taking the bus could be a great solution for people who don’t want to walk, have limited mobility or can’t walk far distances. As someone who enjoys the outdoors and getting some exercise, I will be sure to park several blocks away from the event to avoid some parking chaos and hopefully allow someone else a closer parking spot.  
 
Thanks to all the organizers for your efforts in putting on this event. I’m excited to see the expansion from last year and I’m happy that an event this size is being held in the city’s downtown area.

Anyone know if the food trucks accept debit? Or is it better to bring cash?

Have you been down there? 9th street is closed as is a couple of blocks of Princess Ave.  
It is a gong show! It isn't just food trucks...it's whole carnival fair set up on the streets.  
And for the people who say this is good for downtown businesses....think again. People won't be spending money at their businesses. They will be spending it at the food trucks and on overpriced rickety carnival rides. The businesses will suffer because their regular customers won't be getting anywhere near their businesses

I guess we should just stop having any events at all in Brandon as they might inconvenience someone. Lighten up folks!

Organizers have spent hard hours of work getting this done.  
 
As for the Carnival.. no word if it's going to be free or not.

And also a great chance for anyone who is complaining about this to either prove me right, or prove me wrong,lol. I really do believe that this is an amazing event, and I invite anyone who believes that the parking will be an issue to head on out and just give it a try. Perception of circumstance is sometimes a greater hindrance than the reality. I am sure you will have more fun than you think. There are likely to be plenty of rest areas, and if not, why not bring a fold up chair along? If anything, you may be able to stop, relax, and talk with a few people you see along the way? For those who say it probably won't help downtown Brandon in any way, why not come on out to the fun event anyway, and walk around? You may see some really great businesses that you weren't aware of before that you might start frequenting. This is a great event, and from what I hear, only two people had to organize this massive undertaking. We should support it and them, and be thankful for something that has the opportunity to bring people together for good good and entertainment. I for one would am extremely thankful to the organizers, the vendors, and the city of Brandon.

Make sure you lock up or bolt down anything you don't want stolen while you're enjoying the Food Trucks!  
Last weekend I was parked downtown trying to enjoy some shopping, and I had someone steal the damn tarp that was covering a piece of furniture in the back of my truck. A tarp. Not the chair under it, just the tarp.

So just a friendly reminder that with so many people parking in the area for this event, make sure you keep your vehicles and valuables locked up tight!

Looking forward to this event. If anyone is not happy with the event, then I guess it's your choice not to go. Parking is plentiful at the Town Centre and surrounding streets (a walk for mobile individuals is not a big deal). Personally have a handicapped person with a cane, but I am sure there are drop off points. Everyone needs to chill and enjoy the venue as it is.  
 
I think downtown is an ok choice and it might be a test year, but why not try it?  
 
I hope everyone enjoys this venue. It's great for Brandon. If some people don't patronize the trucks because they 'don't like it', then too bad. It takes support to see these events return year after year. No support-no venue. Support these events, Brandon, otherwise there will never be anything you can complain about. :D
