Like Foxtrot says, contact the hospital. They will try to empty the ward as much as possible if it's anything like other hospitals we've been at.
We had a child in the hospital around Christmas one year. If the child is sufficiently stable and are able, they will sometimes let them leave at least for the day so they can be with their families. In our case, we were still an inpatient, but basically had a pass so we could leave, sleep not at the hospital, etc, as long as we were back for rounds every day and any treatments/tests. One time (not Christmas, but another time) we were allowed to leave after rounds and then return to sleep, and stay the next morning until rounds were done again.
