4) As someone previously stated, PHIA prevents a nurse from develging information which has not been previously explained by the doctor. Most times, the nurses hands are tied. While we would love to tell you everything the physician has written in the chart, it’s against the law so please don’t take it out in the nurses. They are just trying to do their job. If the doctor has not taken the time to call you with an update, then that’s on them. It is after all the physicians responsibly to update you.
5) officially, there are no visitors allowed in the right now. Unofficially, yes, there are exceptions... Palliative care, birth of child, etc. You have to understand that visitor restriction policies are in place to PROTECT the patients. Many of the elderly patients have not been out of their house in months, the last thing we want is for them to catch COVID 19 while in hospital. We need to limit the number of people in and out of the hospital thus the no visitation policy.
6)The best time to call for an update is in the evening when the unit is less busy. Try calling tonight and expressing your concern. Ask if they have a date/time for the angiogram. If they don’t, it’s likely that St. Boniface hospital will call tomorrow with a appointment date. Be patient, these are very trying times for everyone. "
