Is there any location at or near Brandon that I can see northern light if happening?  
I do not want to go far in the highway and stop in the dark alone . Seems that my husband is not interested  
to go for that and wait for long for something that might not see L.o.L. I am sure it will worth the wait but I am not going to insist him. I am thinking if discovery center or optimist park are good places to see the northern lights or there still be too much city light around? Or will be other places,near by?  
Any experience ?

Get away from the city..... Go in any direction 5-10 miles away. It’s the city lights that is the problem. If you can get a location that is up higher that helps as well. Good luck.

What about heading North and parking in the Forrest school parking lot? Might be able to see from there when they’re happening

just go where lights are not going to affect your view north. Just off #1 and 270 is a gravel pile with a parking area is one spot nearby.

There's been years I've managed to see them from parks within Brandon(geostorms ftw?) but please... do stop to enjoy them. You can keep your vehicle running, headlights on and still see them but don't be watching and driving just for your safety along with others. It would be really sad if you even had a very minor accident or even just a scare while trying to enjoy something so interesting and neat as an aurora.

The northern lights were out last weekend. If your outside of the city look north you might see them some night.

Install a app that can tell you if it is even worth looking for northern lights, not saying the app will be always right but will give you a idea if there is even a chance to see them.  
I would try “My Aurora Forecasts and Alerts “ app
