As a moderate that can and has voted one way or the other on the political spectrum in any given election, the timing of this kind of call isn’t my favourite political chess move any more than it was when provincial gov called an early election on almost almost the exact same timing two years ago. No matter the timing, it'll always be inconvenient for someone but I do think that there should be a rule (provincially and federally) requiring that short campaigns don't overlap with summer unless absolutely necessary. I’ll still vote for who I feel will be the best representative for the area and let the chips fall where they may. How the country is governed and by who are too important to decide on perimeter issues when we have parties laying out plans for economy, environment, health care and infrastructure and asking us to decide where Canada goes from here.
