Why is it not common knowledge as to where you can get these tests for free? They have been handing them out freely in Saskatchewan for a significant amount of time now. Europe has had generous access to them for ever.  
 
 
The Keystone Super Site will not give them out. The testing site behind ACC will not give them out.  
I was just at both.  
 
I JUST want to know where they are. That’s all.

Did you go to the drive thru at ACC? They gave them out for free when I was there last week.

Yes, as I said neither of the two sites will give any.

Could have ordered back in the summer and fall , when there was no demand for them -Saskatchewan and couple other provinces were proactive and ordered their max unfortunately our Manitoba government did not.  
Now that they are are in such high demand the Federal government has taken control of orders and they will now be distributed per capita .  
We would not be in this position if our government was proactive.

Ugh.  
 
 
So basically we aren’t being provided with the most up-to-date tools that we need to take care of ourselves and our families in a timely fashion.  
In Canada.  
 
I find that very unfair and concerning considering that we’ve been washing, and masking and distancing and sacrificing and testing and tracing and vaxing for two years - like we were told to by our government and public health.

Are you symptomatic? They are not handing them out "just because". They are handing them out to symptomatic individuals only due to supply issues (as explained above).

On Wednesday, I was given 2 rapid tests as I was a close contact. I am triple vaxxed and had/have no symptoms. Maybe it depends on who you get at the testing sites?  
 
If the province is now going to leave it up to us to care for ourselves, then maybe they should be handing out the tests more easily

Too bad our government wouldn’t do this to help all of us out… now that we are on our own…  
 
COVID-19 Tests Update:  
500M rapid, at-home tests will be available for order on January 19th online and will be mailed directly to American households for free.  
 
President Biden said Thursday he was ordering another 500 million at-home tests to supplement the half-billion that will be available next week.

Only are we not getting the tools to protect ourselves and others but we are basically told we are on our own. When haven't we been on our own since this started? The only time the government does anything is when public outcry starts to give them a headache, such as regulations, free masks, etc.

If you have school aged kids (or know someone who does), many of the schools sent home free tests with kids. The province announced that they would be sent home with kids before Christmas break. However, in typical MB Gov fashion, many divisions did not receive them in time. Our SD, Rolling River, just got the tests last week and I believe they were available for pickup last Friday, Jan 14 (at the Minnedosa schools anyway).

Needed to see a walk in this morning. Nothing to do with Covid symptoms. Turned away without a negative rapid test. Where do we even get them?

There are different locations where you can pay $40+ to get a rapid test done.  
 
I was reading Safeway in the corral center did/had them, but I did not enquire.  
 
Progressive Westman, I messaged them Tuesday last week and they were waiting on a shipment, and they sell the tests $18 a test, sold in packs of 10, so $180 plus tax.

I know someone who was literally at a walk in in Friday and had zero issues. Did you ask why you needed a neg test? Other walk ins are open tomorrow, maybe just try a different one?

….so they asked for a negative rapid test before we could see a doctor.

My hubby has been trying to see a dr for a couple of months and can’t get passed reception. They turn him away.  
 
Reason. He has watery eyes due cancer medication he takes. It’s a side effect. Not COVID. He is going to try to get letter from cancer specialist that it is side effect to see if that works.  
 
It’s crazy. One said go to ER. Really who wants to go there. They will just say that’s a problem for your family dr. And no one with cancer wants to be exposed in an ER.

Call the Manitoba Doctor Finder phone number, and explain the situation. If he doesn't have a regular primary care provider, they can help get connected with one.

I was at the ACC testing site on Monday. I was symptomatic. They only hand out rapid Covid tests to people I believe who are, and only the ones who are driving through the drive-through at the time! You cannot pick up rapid tests for any members of your family Who are not in the vehicle with you at the time that you go. The reason I know this is because I asked for a test for my husband and The nurse said he had to come and get a test himself.

I was ther on Saturday and basically the same thing.  
 
I was a close contact to a covid case, but no symptoms, so I was able to get the rapid tests. But when I asked if I could get some for my boyfriend and kids, as we were all in the same household, I was told no they needed to be in the car as well.  
 
Also if you are not showing symptoms and not a close contact to someone with covid, you will not get them
