Thinking about buying a snowmobile. I will likely regret it next year when there is no snow. Where can you snowmobile? Do you need a Snopass?

While you don't have to have a snopass to enjoy sledding the best rides are on the groomed trails that run extensively around Brandon. Well worth the snopass.

You will need to have it registered regardless, but with a snopass you have access to all the snoman groomed trails in MB. If you don't want a snopass you'd be limited to lakes, ditches, non-snopass trails. I believe there are decent fines for being on a snopass trail without the snopass but you'd have to look into that.

Where's the closest path?

Where's does one access the closest snopas path access in/near Brandon? The maps are great but I'm looking for the local access/staging areas. I'm new to the sport too!

There used to be a staging/parking area on 1st St North where the trail crosses. You can go east toward Shilo or west toward the Rivers trails.
You could also unload at Dinsdale Park and make your way toward where the trail crosses Veterans Way by the RCMP station.
There's also a staging area on Veterans Way at the intersection to Chater (south side).

Check out this site, has everything you need to know about trails and different club. I quit sledding a couple years ago and had all the trails on my gps for this area. My gps mounted on the handle bars and gave you a lot info.
