BK to get a remodel

Franchisee for Brandon's Burger King tells me that our location is scheduled for a re-do this year... some might suggest it's time!

Plans, permits et all are currently being worked on with a hope to start construction early in the summer and completion in the fall if all goes according to plan.
Like what we've seen with other fast food remodels, intent right now is to keep the drive-through open during construction except for potentially a brief period of a day or two while work at the drive-thru window portion is done.

Same company owns a ton of BKs in Canada including a bunch in Manitoba. They're working their way through a lot of the restaurants with updates, with Brandon the only one planned in Manitoba for 2022.

This isn't necessarily what the design for Brandon will look like, but link below gives an idea of the overall direction that BK is going with look/feel/branding of restaurants:

It's about time that place both had a franchisee AND got a facelift. I don't think its changed since I first set foot in the building when I was a kid lol.

They should start with the parking lot. Still has potholes in it from when I was a teen 20yrs ago I swear.

I agree 100%.. I think they need to revamp their menu in line with other similar fast food joints.

don't need the menu to change, as long as the grill schedule doesn't. I can't stand it that McDonalds doesn't do burgers before 11. They'd get a lot more of my business if they were cooking burgers earlier. It's always Burger King in the morning for me. I know it's not good for their business, but I also love it that there's not 2 drive through line ups back to the street. Never a wait at BK.

At entrance to north parking lot.

This is a natural sinkhole. They have filled it many times and within a short time there is a hole.

There are many natural sink holes in Brandon.

I believe A&W owns BK. If I am wrong let me know. A lot of fast foods are owned by some other chain.

One good thing about it now is you can eat inside and it is quiet and generally empty.

Most busiest is drive thru.

Bad thing about remodel is prices will skyrocket.

A&W in Canada is privately owned, used to be part of the American chain, but bought out by Canadian management and now headquartered in Vancouver. Completely separate from A&W elsewhere in the world.

Burger King is a part of RBI (Restaurant Brands International) who also owns Tim Hortons, Firehouse Subs and Popeyes. Headquarters in Toronto, but 32% of shares owned by a Brazilian investment company 3G Capital.

At the corp level BK is under the same umbrella as Tim’s, Popeyes and now Firehouse Subs.

The franchisee (national company) that has the Brandon location since 2013 has a little less than 200 BKs in Canada and a few other chains. The local franchisee for Tims (Brandon-based) and the franchisee for our Popeyes (Winnipeg-based) are completely separate.

Don’t see why prices would skyrocket. Corporate has its prices for stuff, that’s what’ll be charged. These Reno’s are an investment in generating continued business, which imo in Brandon when you look at their competition and how many updates there have been is especially important!

No kidding. I don't think there are any other chains in the city (maybe KFC/Taco Bell on 18th?) that show their age quite as much as BK. I mean, it seemed like the place didn't even have any outdoor lighting that was not burned out (including the front sign!). Looking at it compared to Tim's next door was literally like comparing night to day.

Couple weeks into renos now.
From a spokesperson for the franchisee, the drive thru will close tomorrow (May 24) for one week while work is focused on the drive thru window area. The drive thru will reopen by June 3 while work continues on the rest of the restaurant.

Full reopening (including dine-in) with Grand Re-Opening is planned for the last week of August.

Attached a pic provided to me that shows the outside that they’re working toward.
