Emergency pet care
Apr 14 at 1:25 PM
This is a letter of thanks to Dr. Sherry Wurtz and staff at Wheat City Veterinary Clinic for the wonderful care provided to our poor sick dog this morning.
We are stuck in Brandon right now and our regular vet is over two and a half hours away. Our dog came down with stomach upset and diarrhea three nights ago. He seemed somewhat better yesterday morning and during the day, but was in bad shape this morning.
We phoned our regular vet and asked for a recommendation here in Brandon. They didn’t name a particular business so we started by calling two of the larger clinics in Brandon. We were told that they weren’t able to see him (despite openings due to cancellations) as he wasn’t a regular client. One place suggested that we should take him to our regular vet, despite the fact we said that we were stuck in Brandon and the highways are closed. They even had our name on file as two of our previous dogs were vetted there in the past. The receptionist named our old dog and asked if it was him, and I think that if i’d said it was we would have gotten an appointment there.
We weren’t looking for a new permanent vet, just emergency care and medication for our sick dog.
Our third contact was Wheat City Veterinary Clinic. They had a cancellation and we were able to take him in. He was examined and given two injections and medication for the next week to help him recover. The care was wonderful - friendly, professional, and with reasonable charges considering it was an emergency.
We are so grateful for the kind care provided to our sick dog. Thanks again to Dr. Sherry and Wheat City Vet Clinic!
