The way it was explained to me, the spot they had the sign wasn't necessarily the intended location for an actual store. I wouldnt take the Hedleys build as a sign they're out. Will see if I can track down any more info.
Also on coffee, the new Grey Ridge in the mall looks pretty nice. Quite a bit of variety of drink types on the menu, was busy a few days ago when I was by!
I like the thought of Cobs in a vacant 18th st unit. Biggest hurdle there I believe is they look for an owner-operator, not just someone that invests and hires someone to manage it (or at least that was the case a few years ago). Understandable as a way to build their culture. We have some great bakeries in town and some grocery stores that put out quite a bit of excellent variety themselves but we seem to be more the exception than the rule as far as cities 50k and up in Western Canada without a Cobs in the mix.
