Public Health no longer sends ticks away for testing. Instead, you can send photos to eTick, and have the species of tick identified:

If, using the resources above, you believe that you have a deer tick that has been attached for at least 36 hours or if it is engorged, and it has been less than 72 hours since it was removed, you should speak with your primary care provider about possibly getting a prophylaxis antibiotic (it is only one dose).
