I am currently employed as a LPN but would really like to upgrade to BN. Because I have two young children at home and live a good hour out of Brandon going to the university for classes, taking two years off of work is not an option.  
I am wondering if anyone has done the online program with Athabaska university? I would really appreciate some information on that course. Also any other ways people have completed this upgrade.

I would phone the Brandon University Nursing Dept. directly to see what your options are, and also if any online university is accredited with Manitoba before you begin.

Did you check AU's page for t he online course? Needing to join the Alberta College of Nursing is to be expected but 3.5-7 years for completion might be excessive for you.

I do know the both the BN and bridging programs in Brandon are very hard to get into. Few coworkers have worked part time, then quit to finish their courses when bridging  
 
One coworker is taking through Athabasca. She says is pricier but likes the flexibility. I don't know much else about it though.
