I learned something I wanted to ask others about and share about the assistance program they have for Manitoba Hydro. Probably important to know they don't help any disabled Manitobans. Apparently we are already receiving help and cannot possibly be experiencing hardship. Not even a one time help application.  
DONORS BE AWARE. Who are you donating to? If not disabled Manitobans who require support living on the poverty line then who?

While this is a great idea in thought however in practicality If you receive income from the government  
YOU DO NOT QUALIFY FOR HELP AS YOU ARE "ALREADY" RECEIVING HELP receiving government income. Any thoughts on this?

This Manitoba Hydro program will help persons with disabilities....it depends if you are on governmant assistance (EIA) as Income Assistance already pays an amount for utilities...which is understandable...you won't get help to pay for it twice....  
 
My son who receives CPP Disability was able to get them to help with his Pharmacare deductible....In partnership with Salvation Army it allowed him to pay his Pharmacare deductible on a monthly payment plan....

I didn't know this program existed, it seems like a great idea.  
 
The website clearly states:  
You or someone you know may be eligible if you:  
-are not receiving social assistance;  
-are currently in 60 days arrears or greater;  
-have a final or disconnection notice;  
-have not previously received assistance from this program.  
To apply for assistance, you must meet with The Salvation Army, fill out an application, and provide proof of income for all household members for the current year.  
 
Disability does not play a part in the elligibility for this program.  
There is also a program called the Customer Arrears Assistance Program that can help with monthly payments if you can't pay your entire bill at once. If you don't qualify for the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program, have you looked into it?
