Be advised the post is about excessive speeding with semi's early evenings as clearly explained originally.
1) Mike Sims: Great advice on Go-Pro, I am getting one. I agree that RCMP can not be everywhere but there are other Municipal and provincial resources that should monitor the Brandon -Virden stretch. Daytime semis are within reasonable speeds, come the evening, semis have suddenly gained ground at dangerous speeds.
2) Breaker 12: I have a 2023 CVO Street glide. That is a great idea about getting my speedometer checked. I was wondering why I was doing 28Km/hr in 6th gear.
Here's your sign.
3) Farmer George: Very Good Advice! Thank you and may your travels be safe.
4) Bean: Traveled the road more than a 'few times'??? oh please do tell, I am listening...
By the way..Here's your sign.
5) Jessie Jay: The semis that are excessively speeding is a reality that I experienced 5x the last 2 weeks, hence this post to fellow travelers. I will save your sign for someone more deserving.
6) Bruce Johnston: I am looking at the semi bearing down on me from behind. Congrats! Here's your sign.
7) Pests: When a semi is traveling and quickly encroaching me at speeds of 120km/hr + I will speed up as to not get swept into their vortex. Big word.
Here's your sign.
8) Stephen F: a bike owns the lane as does a vehicle, both left and right track.
A speeding semi from behind...?
Here's your sign.
9) Bdn Boy: Awesome input!
10) aBUFAmember: It is legal to accelerate speed to avoid collision. Read the initial post written in the King's English.
11) Bob Sacamano: No comment. Here's your sign
12) BuddyCthulhu: Fellow defensive driver! May your travels always be blessed.

I'll reply mainly to your comments to my post only. First, I'll double check things and admit when I'm wrong. It's a bad look to just dismiss the opinions of everyone who disagrees with you by posting derogatory comments about them ("here's your sign").
Since you're talking about highway 1, I'll assume you are talking about 'normal' driving conditions - i.e. there are two lanes in each direction (unless you are in a construction zone). So I'd say it's fair to assume that a vehicle bearing down on you would move over and pass once they get close, since that's what the second lane is for. I've also driven that highway a lot, including on a motorcycle, and I've never seen anyone drive up on someone and keep going into their rear end. Yes, it can happen, but it's extremely rare. I can't help wondering if you are misjudging how close the vehicles behind you are. Good for you for watching your mirrors and being an aware driver - so many others aren't. But it's not hard to determine if someone will be passing you. I realize that not all drivers properly use their signals to indicate their intention to change lanes, but professional truck drivers are usually pretty good about this.
I take your point about accelerating to avoid a collision. But is a collision really that imminent? See point above. I reviewed the highway traffic act and confirmed the point I made (see section 114(2)). It doesn't say explicitly that the vehicle needs to already be in the act of passing, but I suppose you could infer that. However, I see no evidence of your point. Please point me to the provision in the act and I'll appreciate learning. Sure, it's common sense, but only if you can say such an accident was imminent to the point of avoiding damage or injury - see my point above. How early are you making this call? I wonder how the officer giving you a ticket would react when you say the reason you were speeding was because a vehicle behind you on this two lane roadway was going faster than you were.
If you plan to reply to this post, please limit your comments to rational statements rather than just insulting me because I posted something you didn't like. I appreciate you pointing out that your original post was in the King's English. Did you say so to imply that mine wasn't? How could I have better expressed myself? By the way, if you want to be that way, no, your post was not in the King's English. It was in pretty ordinary English.
You shouldn't post things like this, knowing you are basically asking people to reply, if you're just going to leave derogatory comments to those you don't agree with. You offered your opinion and experience. Others posted their experience and opinions. You offered them a sign - as if what they said was self-evidently dumb. No. They just felt differently than you based on their experience. You offered them a sign. They just offered you their opinion.
And p.s., yes, even if your speedo is out 5%, you could experience vehicles seeming to come up on you very quickly. Motorcycle speedos are frequently out a little. Nobody suggests your speedo says 28km/h in 6th gear. That's just being silly. Maybe Breaker 12 can give you your sign back?
