    Travelling to Mexico currency exchange question

    The hotels online in Mexico are usually quoted in US dollars. Being a Canadian, can I not just pay them in their local Mexican pesos or Canadian cash?? Credit cards are not widely used in smaller locations. What do you recommend? I don’t want to exchange Canadian to American first if I don’t have to.

    I would actually call and ask or email the hotel directly. We went last year (it was a package so paid in Canadian $). We had to pay the environmental tax at the hotel. They originally gave us US price, I asked for and paid in pesos. It makes no sense to convert to US then to Pesos.
