I drove by there yesterday and there was some contractors vehicles on site and some workers walking around. Maybe things are about to start up again, I don't know.

Keller Developments bought the site so are now working on it.

Waiting for permits.

Starting to look like ’Appauling Heights’ there. Hopefully the buildings get done soon

North hill, north side of Braecrest between 18th Street and the North Hill Inn. Six apartment buildings.

They have all their permits.

Does the contractor have all final permits including the occupancy permit?

Very upset about this development. We haven’t addressed the traffic issue at 18th and braecrest, if they ever finish these apartments, traffic is going to be a nightmare and I can just imagine the accidents there will be at that intersection! Not to mention, the buildings are an eyesore.

Keller Developments and Myria Designs have proposed the development of 8 apartment buildings on the former Patmore Nurseries property, behind Kullberg’s new warehouse. Residents of Whistler Landing and Monterey Estates, all of whom could be impacted by the development, have already had the opportunity to meet once with developers to address concerns.  
 
I can’t find any reference to the development on their respective websites - maybe Adam can track down details?

I would think that if they have their occupancy certificate, people would actually be living in them.

I would think that if they had their occupancy permit, people would actually be living in them. I know, it's tough sometime.

Based on the parking lot not being close to done the chance of getting a occupancy permit is next to zero. Also suggest that outsides of building may look done but insides have a ways to go on most building .

Those apartments are an eye sore.  
They’re so close to the street, they look like they’re on top of Braecrest Drive. Thank You to Brandon’s City Planning for allowing this ugly development.  
How on earth is Braecrest Drive & 18th Street going to be able to handle all this traffic???

I used to enjoy watching the sunset on my walk along braecrest, now I stare at more ugly apartment, the traffic is going to be horrendous. Major planning fail!

Absolutely agree.

I'm tired of all the horrifically ugly housing developments that the city allows to be built. Of course we need housing, but whoever is in charge of city planning and approving these developments is doing a terrible job of being discerning.  
 
How many ugly 4-plexes have been built on lots in otherwise well thought-out neighborhoods? It should be illegal to buy lots to tear down houses just to build income properties. It should also be illegal to build the ugliest apartment buildings known to man, especially on the North Hill which used to have a lovely view. Now all there is are overpriced rental units. A shame.

I am curious, what laws were in breach? How could the designer have done different to better meet your needs?  
 
For perspective, the Renaissance Station is literally on their property line. The new apartments on Sycamore tower over the condos across from the street.  
 
But if you did some further digging, you will discover the zoning laws are no different than they are in any Canadian City. These types of developments happen everywhere.

So you would rather the city spread out further and further rather than fill in the vacant spots? Most times the houses being torn down are done. Yes you can put 4 families where there was 1 before. Did you know we are lacking housing in the city?

While continuing to use a select group of the trades that have been on the site they are also bringing to the mix Quarry Hills Excavating, Westman Lumber Supply and a variety of other trades to get the buildings completed and tenants in the buildings.”

Most people don't realize that most of the world's population live in apartment style housing.  
 
Apartments have a much smaller carbon footprint, both during and after construction. They also represent our greatest chance at revitalizing the downtown, in fact we are seeing a resurgence of apartments being built near the downtown of Brandon.  
 
I know that people will disagree with me, but we will have to get used to taller, bigger apartment style buildings if we want to see Brandon grow beyond being a small City. And trust me, you don't want to live in a City that experiences long-term stagnant growth.

I live on Braecrest Drive and near to multi rental buildings with 2 new 16 unit rental buildings on Lark. There are a lot of young families occupying these buildings. I notice the children have no green space to play. I see them on the road and running around the parking lots not only in their complex but in other complexes. The other safety concern is there is only one pedestrian crossing on Braecrest between 1st and 18th street. I have watched young children having to cross Braecrest to access the walking path. In certain areas they have to cross the street into a ditch. This is very tricky in then winter when the snowbanks are high. There is a lot of traffic on Braecrest Drive and will only increase when Apollo Heights get occupied.
