Can't connect to Google Play any more. Was told this is because the Canadian government have put a block on Huawei devices because of security concerns. Anyone else experiencing same issues?

I don't have any Huawei devices but I vaguely remembered there were pissing matches over it both here and in the US.  
 
How long have you had this device or when was the last time you tried updating it? Huawei has had it's ability to use the Play Store seriously curbed since 2019, when the Trump administration basically banned Huawei. Google complied by no longer supporting Huawei, although it still had out of date stuff on it. Canada banned Huawei from rhe 5G network in 2022.  
 
Have you not updated it in a long time, or is it a new to you device? There apparently are ways to update it, but you have to go through other websites. Also, old evices just stop updating after awhile.

Don't remember exactly when, but it was purchased online. Bought it because it i:ncluded a stylus. Mainly used it to run a home media app that cast to my bedroom TV. Can still run YouTube, Google but can't install any new apps.
