"Class 5 Road Tests
MPI has resumed all Class 5 driver testing services for customers following temporary cancellations due to ongoing MGEU strike action. Class 5 drivers will be offered a road test with an MPI-certified driver education instructor. Customers will be contacted by MPI with further instructions on how to reschedule their test.
MPI’s strong and valued relationships with our driver instructor partners enable us to resume testing as early as September 5 in Winnipeg, and in rural locations soon after. Instructors will have the option of offering testing in the customer’s vehicle or in their own training vehicle – specialty vehicles which are typically equipped with safety features such as a passenger side brake, passenger side rear view mirror, and sometimes a second steering wheel.
MPI officials will be monitoring the results of this program very closely to ensure ongoing public safety on roadways. MPI’s Registrar of Motor Vehicles will retain the right to recall drivers for re-testing at no charge once the current labour disruption concludes."
