So Brandon takes down the 8th street bridge, ok it was unsafe. Then they talk about a walking bridge, that discussion goes away quietly. Then they change the bus service down Parker Blvd from normal running hours to 10-2( this works great for people who work before and after that time....)Then they said lets get a taxi service to pick up people outside the KIA bus stop and drop them off down Parker. I believe that has also ended. Now we have people walking down to work at Morning Star/Sokol Hall/McKenzie Seeds etc in pitch black with snow built up on the edges of the road and NO SIDEWALK. That is so dangerous and is it only going to take one near miss or god forbid a fatality to wake up the Brandon Councilors to the fact that they have completely abandoned the poor working folks and people who live under the bridge from having safe access to there community. They don't pay high taxes and live in the newest of areas so F them right. Makes me sick that Kris Desjarlais the Ward for this area doesn't even talk about this issue. I see the Ball diamonds being erected and completed by private funding and wouldn't you know the city installs a small walking path on the outside of the diamonds pulling down from the walking river bridge. It ends right at the end of the diamonds going West. WOW.

Good luck, I hope you can tell him because I’m with you there. Bus services changed so much in the north end but the info you gave isn’t correct. Buses run hourly from 6-10 am than every half hour 10:30-5:30 than hourly from 6-11 pm Monday to Saturday Sunday is 9-7 hourly. Side walks aren’t on every side of the street but it’s there. Now if you want to talk about maintenance that’s a completely different issue. Same with the road conditions. I do agree the north end especially where you’re talking about needs better budgeting of resources. I’m slowly trying to figure out town halls so I can complain to the city about how they have to redo roads because they didn’t do the job right first.

Although you are right and there is only a path to the end of the ball diamonds. Other than about 15-20 properties the rest would have just as short of commute to walk down stickney ave to 12th street if they are accessing morning star or the livestock yard. 14th Dan access profile paving. Although no sidewalk on 12th or 14th they anre very low traffic. Other than those 3 businesses I can’t see any on the map that would really affect pedestrians. If you are going to be heading north on 18th just walk down stickney to 17-18th and the jump north. This may not be a popular opinion but to spend what it would cost to install a sidewalk/walking path the full length to 18th that would be used by very limited amounts of people would be a waste. Prior to the 8th street bridge demolition there would have been a lot higher foot traffic to go north it may have made sense.

Lots of places with no sidewalks. In the West End I gamble every winter on Riverheights Drive to walk it to get my groceries to Sobeys West End. No sidewalks there. Fell twice so far this year on this solid ice street.

There are several areas underserved by sidewalks. The City is working on installing sidewalks but the process is VERY expensive, and to keep costs down (somewhat) sidewalks and paths have to be installed incrementally across all sectors of the City.  
 
There are heavily populated parts of the City that are served by bus stops but have no sidewalks.  
 
One spot in particular is on Sycamore Drive, right by The Groves. There is a bus stop there between Tracey Street and Mongolia Drive, which is surrounded by apartments, condos and other multi-plexes where many many immigrants and young professionals live. The bus stop there is on the south side of teh street and no sidewalk...thousands of people call this small section of teh City home and use the transit system to get to school and work.  
 
This isn't a problem that only those in the Assiniboine Basin face.

You want sidwalks installed.. have you not noticed that regular curbs in this city aren't even fixed when they're damanged!  
 
Just walk down louise ave around university area.., curbs have been broken for a decade now and the grass is starting to grow in the street.  
 
If city can't fix that, why should they waste money and put in sidewalks elsewhere.
