It’s official, the system that’s en route for tonight into tomorrow is being given the B-word designation… pasting Env Canada’s warning below:

Blizzard conditions with heavy snow, gusty winds, and near-zero visibility are expected.  
 
Snowfall: 25 to 35 cm  
 
Wind: gusts of 70 to 80 km/h  
 
When: Overnight Saturday night to Sunday evening  
 
Remarks: A Montana low will bring snow and blowing snow to the region beginning Saturday evening. As the system strengthens Saturday night, snowfall rates and wind speeds will increase creating blizzard conditions. Blizzard conditions will improve Sunday evening as wind speeds weaken but heavy snow will continue to Monday morning.  
 
Travel is expected to be very difficult or impossible due to near-zero visibility. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Road closures are possible.  
 
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. For information on emergency plans and kits go to getprepared.gc.ca.  
 
Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.

I'm right in town and it's windy but not much snow to speak of. Maybe F8 is outside the city?

Snowed for maybe twenty minutes here.. definitely not worth getting the snow blower out unless there’s a lot more to come.  
 
At least this year they didn’t close schools restaurants etc for the “storm of the century” lol

It’s coming down pretty hard now. I think this is the type of snowstorm that was predicted, but didn’t happen last year when they closed the schools in preparation. Unfortunately, because of last year’s weather that ‘cried wolf’ they aren’t likely to close this year.

I have shovelled three times already today and tonight. Must be close to a foot of snow in my yard in the West End and it’s still snowing

Stay off roads in town please. Roads are in very bad conditions. Hwys are already closed.

Took my wife to work with the truck this morning, if you have a small car or SUV, even an AWD one, you may want to stay home for now if possible. West end was bad, Victoria down to 1ish lane and all turning lanes were plugged solid.  
 
And PSA, if you're out shovelling, please take breaks and hydrate. A cardiac event can happen to anyone regardless of age or physical fitness.

Great tips. With that wind you don't want to be out too long either. Still trying to warm up from feeding cows.  
 
Make sure you give shut ins you know a call to see they are all right. Very fortunate no power outages.

Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected.  
 
When: Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning  
 
Hazards: Heavy snow, and at times greatly reduced visibilities  
 
Remarks: A low pressure system will move into the region with an organized area of snow that will bring a wide swath of accumulating snow. However, embedded within this system is the potential for bands of more vigorous snow production. These bands will allow for significant snow fall rates, causing visibilities to drop to near zero and snowfall accumulations to add up quite quickly in some localities. Warnings may be adjusted to focus heavily on these bands.  
 
This will be a fairly quick moving system and conditions will improve on Thursday.  
 
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.  
 
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.

Getting bad out there again, was nearly smooshed by several vehicles on the way home. Another snow day tomorrow, maybe?

People need to stay home tomorrow. No point in risking yourself, especially cars

Driving too fast...running through yellow/red lights...following too close...what's the rush?
