Thinking of building a fence

Just looking to see how much it is to build a horizontal fence these days? What is the average cost? I measured to be around 65ft on the side of the house and another 65 ft at the back. Thanks.

I was at Home Depot yesterday and premade 8ft sections of 6ft high cedar are $199.

Site survey available? Access? Restrictions? Material?

There is no site survey done and I would like recommendations on material. Not sure what you meant by access and restrictions.

If you are building a fence in town there are many building codes you have to fulfill. It is not ust a matter of " I went a fence so I will just go aheadn and do it"

That's exactly what you do. Do the "call before you dig" thing online so any underground lines get marked out for you and then go ahead. City doesn't require a permit for a fence. Only stipulation is no taller than 6 feet, or 4 feet if fencing in your front yard. We fenced last spring and for about 46ft of fence it cost us about $1400 all in.

I would be asking someone to build the fence for me so I'm sure the company that does that will know what the restrictions and do the site survey thing for me or I can call "before you dig" thing myself.
Which company in town would you recommend? Thanks.

I used Westman Fencing last year. They did an amazing job. Fence was up in 1.5 days (big yard), called me to do a last minute redesign due to a power box on the neighbouring property and cleaned up all the mess. Had a gate shift over the winter and they returned this spring to readjust it. From start to finish they were professionable and personable - understdood my needs and met them 100%

Treated fence boards and posts. Gave the details to South End Lumber and they did up an estimate. They were bang on down to the last board!

Nope. Left msg for Westman fencing and that was two weeks ago. No one got back to me. I guess they are not interested.

Something feels odd to me about that. They responded right away when I contacted them, and another person that my mother knows also contacted them and they responded right away. I would try calling again.
