Great city

For food, check out Jam Cafe, the Blue Fox and Spoons. Best breakfasts and lunches. You will likely find a small line up outside Blue Fox or Jams (what does that say?)
I will buy your brunch if you find anything wrong with these restaurants.
I sure miss the Wax Museum. As a kid that was cool (and scary).
In the Empress Hotel, the miniature world is pretty cool. Royal BC Museum is spectacular.
Check out James Bay. From the east side, there are great views of Mt. Baker. Some lovely walking trails on south end of the island along the waterfront.
As others said, check out downtown shops. Park the car and hike around and to the harbour, and legislature. A fun city with amazing sights. No wonder its one of the most pricey cities to live.
