TV stays on Standby after power outage

Every time there is a power outage, even for a second, our older Pioneer plasma goes into standby and won't turn on after the power has been restored. It goes back in standby mode unless it is unplugged for a day. We tried draining the power before turning it back on and plugging it directly into the outlet (it is on a power bar) but nothing seems to work. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a way to restore it faster that maybe we haven't tried?
