What are your preferences for cremation a headstone or flat marker and where do you go to get this done? How long should you wait to do this? No experience at this .What are the costs  
range? First time.

Depends on how much you are willing to spend. My Grandparents have a headstone and my grandfather was cremated (Gramma is still around). I would highly recommend Rapid City Memorials, that’s who we used when we needed one for a family member years ago.

I don't known what is available here, but sometimes there's also niches you can get. Where my grandfather is buried (Winnipeg), there are both indoor and outdoor niches. The outdoor ones are like walls, and there's a capstone on the exterior. The interior ones are glass, and we were able to fill it with sentimental o:bjects etc. We visited it a lot the first decade or so, and gradually it's dropped off to now I don't know if anyone goes anymore. But in that initial period, it was extremely helpful to see the urn box, the o:bjects etc..  
 
I have also heard excellent things about Rapid City Memorials..

Memorials are awesome. Highly recommend. We used them for dad got a head stone and he is cremated. They drove two hours away to set up and that was i:ncluded.

With cemetery office for rules.  
 
In Brandon cemetery there are different designated areas if you have a cremation plot it’s in a different section and flat markers with or without vase attached are allowed, no big headstones.  
 
If you are burying loved one in casket it’s different area and unless it’s changed in 5 years , you can have big headstone or flat markers.  
 
Rapid City is who we used for all 3 family members, one out of town great service and walk you through every thing, choices, prices, installation.  
Same as above they installed out of town one.  
 
There is no set time however the sooner you do it the sooner you get closer and it is so much nicer (,in my opinion,) to visit the gravesite when it has been done, just feels completed.
