John has had rotten luck with LG but not Samsung, so buy Samsung. But Bob hates his Samsung, so you'd better only buy Whirlpool. But Suzie Q has had nothing but issues with her Whirlpool, so better by Maytag.
Protips:
- Jenn-air, Kitchenaid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana and Inglis are all owned by the same company. They are manufactured in North America, so if/when you have an issue, it's USUALLY quicker to get parts in.
- LG is an import product, and sometimes, parts can take weeks-months to come in.
-There are more techs in Westman who can work on the Whirlpool (and parent line of products like Amana/Maytag) under their warranty than there are LG/Samsung/Elextrolux.
Important things to consider:
The hardness of your water.
Your own cleanliness. If you don't keep up on cleaning, I would suggest a top load, as front loads need more care to keep from getting stinky.
With your age/height, will you have issues with a top load machine?
If you get a front load set, did you want it side by side, or stacked? If side by side, did you want it elevated on pedestals?
If you have pets, I reccommend the Maytag Pet Pro series. We've had success with that line in my workplace. "
All very good advice.
Also consider customer service. We bought a Samsung dishwasher last year (our bad, I know), and it's not worked correctly from day one. They are horrible to deal with from a customer service standpoint, and they definitely have not fixed the problem (which we're more or less attributing to bad design at this point, because many parts have been replaced and it works just as poorly as the day we bought it.) I would never, ever buy anything Samsung every again just because of the customer service part of it.
We've had quite a few Whirlpool et al appliances over the years, and the parts are readily available and actually fairly easy to fix yourself if that's your sort of thing.
I wish Kenmore was still made - I know they were made by Whirlpool but they were usually cheaper and just as or more robust. The best washer I ever had was Kenmore, but I left it behind when we moved. I wish we hadn't.
