First time so looking for some info on hotel stays ( budget friendly of course) . Also someone on an earlier thread posted that it would be better to go to Poughkeepsie and take the train into Grand Central Station from there? If that is the case, could we leave our vehicle at the Poughkeepsie station there and stay in a hotel in New York City to avoid driving and parking? Getting a city travel pass would be our first move and then do some serious walking as well. Any tips are more than welcome,

Taking the subway is the most efficient way to travel New York to the tourist destinations. There’s an app for the subway that’s very helpful.

I’ve been looking at a subway map and it doesn’t look too complicated. I will definitely download the app. Finding an affordable hotel in midtown Manhattan is preferential as that location is close to a lot of attractions.
