I saw a bad accident on my way home from work. A car was on its side and another car really badly banged up. I’m just hoping and praying that everybody made it out OK

Its mind boggling that between the city and the province why they haven't banned left turns there, no going straight on Braecrest and reduce the speed limit to 60km per hour on 18th st. Just do this immediately so everybody can be safe. It isn't that complicated.

I don't think reducing speed from 70 to 60 will do much difference

I don’t understand why people don’t take Knowlton Drive to go south instead of taking Braecrest to 18th. I’ve been taking it for years and will continue to. It’s much quicker and safer.

Here we go again! How many more people have to get hurt or killed at that intersection before the City & the Province do something? At least lower the speed limit to 50.  
Some people are driving 70 to 80 up and down that hill.  
For the City & Province to sit and do nothing is ridiculous!

it’s not just the people going up and down 18th that cause these accidents. i don’t know how many times i was driving up and a vehicle decides to speed through to do a left turn. i’ve had to slam my brakes a few times, it’s not only just at this intersection but everywhere. people of brandon in general need to learn to drive correctly and SAFELY.

Maybe the cops could do their speed traps down that side instead of sitting down 1st street bridge. Might make people more observant of their surroundings knowing that’s where the police like to sit

The only idea I have heard is lights at that intersection but come winter and semis we would have more collisions due to sliding down the hill so those that make the laws and figure out what's best need to actually evaluate a way of keeping it safe... I'd rather have an accident pulling out across traffic then seeing a semi sliding down into my car. Plus that intersection is all about planning when further back on braecrest... I.e. I see how many cars are coming north when I'm about 3 cars back then when up closer see what's happening south then plan my timing to get across and turn onto 18th street

They could make it a no left turns between 6am and 8pm. Before 6 and after 8pm traffic is generally light. There are only about 75 houses to the west that would be affected for left turns to head north and for people turning south they could use Knowlton dr to Kirkcaldy.

I drive on 1st st daily. I have not seen a single BPS parked hiding past the 1st st bridge in the past 4 months. Trust me in saying 90% of people are going 70 km per hour and even worse going north over the 1st st bridge. The police are usually on Pacific Ave however.  
 
As for 18th st, I very rarely see anybody speeding going up the hill. That speed thing at the median going up the hill on 18th st is fairly inaccurate in my experiences.

I love how everyone blames the people going up and down at 70kmh because that’s the problem going the speed limit lol. The people turning left are the one causing the accidents by dangerously trying to get across when it’s unsafe. When will people learn how to drive in this city?.
