I just got my hydro bill for $124.56. The Natural gas portion comes to $44.57 of that part of the bill $23.49 is carbon tax and then another $1.17 gst on the carbon tax. Actual gas used is $11.31 the rest is for so-called basic charges and $19.09 for delivery.  
Later on this winter the carbon tax will be a lot higher. Unfortunately Trudeau and his gang dont realize I have to heat my house, it's not a luxury. So I cant really reduce my cost as I would with my vehicle by driving less. Oh but yeah I guess Trudeau thinks I should cover up with a comforter as temperatures go down and use a heating blanket in bed as there is no charge for carbon on electricity.  
Hopefully we get a change in government before next October and it's a party who listens to the people

How much do you get back in carbon tax refunds? Be honest.

Like what’s the point in the tax ? We all know it’s a joke. We are not reducing anything and why do we have to take the lead on “climate change” ? It’s pointless! We aren’t even paying down our debt with it. Anyways don’t matter cause next Oct we will have a new PM and life will go on.

You know there are 27 other countries that have implemented a carbon tax? The biggest polluters are industry and you better believe this is forcing them to take measures to reduce carbon. I work for a large manufacturing facility and they are making engineering plans to be carbon neutral in 5-10 years.

Maybe it's my math not mathing properly, but I'm having a hard time making sense of your numbers.

So, the $124.56 is both gas and electricity combined, right?  
 
The $44.57 is gas. Or is that electric part? From what you said, it sounds like it's gas.  
 
Your use is $11.31, which at 6.14 cents per cubic meter is roughly 69 cubic meters of gas used.  
 
The carbon tax is 15.25 cents per cubic meter.  
 
So your carbon tax on 69 cubic meters should be about $10.52. Which is nothing to sneeze at, but is half the advertised amount in your post.  
 
Even if I assume the $44 is your electric portion and I add everything together, I get way less than $124. Unless $124 is your EPP amount.  
 
Can you maybe check your numbers and get back to us?

This same thread is posted every couple months. The numbers never add up because it's just a bad faith argument with people who simply want to demonize it as carbon tax bad or pointless. When accurate numbers are revealed and it is determined people are actually benefitting there is never a single mind changed.  
 
It is a revenue neutral program. The tax simply adds a cost to heavy users and redistributes that money to people who use less to create a cost associated with that heavy use rather than targeting average users. That is the point of the tax, therefore it is not pointless.  
 
The fact that the government still subsidizes oil and gas in the tens of billions every year creating artificially deflated prices doesn't bother these people but having to pay a few extra dollars to consume a product that is literally driving ecological disaster and millions of deaths annually is somehow a bridge too far. Even when the vast majority of them end up getting more than those few dollars back in their rebate.  
 
Then comes the well why do we have to do something about it when *insert country* isn't doing anything about it. This is just another hollow argument that can be blanketly used against any progress in society. Why have regulations on air quality, food production, vehicles, or buildings? Or anything else for that matter? They just make things more expensive surely if we got rid of them like *insert country* life would be way cheaper.

I don't have faith in Canadian voters out there anymore, not to mention all the clowns who would vote Trudeau in from the south are trying their best to move here. Common sense will likely lost the battle here as most of the voters out there seem to think communism is the way to go. Things are likely to get drastically worse here in Canada, especially anywhere west of the GTA.

Can't let the facts get in the way of a good rant.

O.K. here is the missing info needed to help you. On my bill there is 2 charges from Centra gas 1)108.493 x .07850 =:8.52 and 45.511x.06140=:2.79. Therefore Centras cost =:$11.31. The total cubic metre therefor is 154.004 multiplied by the carbon tax of .1525 =:$23.49.  
This year the carbon tax increased by 0.0286 to .1525. Last year as an example my cubic metre used in December was 398.76 so if the same usage again my carbon tax in December could be 398.76x 0.1525 to=:$60.89. This is nothing to sneeze at.  
 
Carbon tax on the gasoline you burn is 17.6 cents a litre. This adds $8.80 ot a 50 litre fill and people are still driving the same or more. Look at our streets in Brandon clogged with traffic like never before.  
 
As far as this tax being revenue neutral, I doubt it. This tax is collected by the government and "part" of it is redistributed by a government department made up of employees who collect it and send it out. There is never a mention about this cost which could be better spent on our health care.  
 
This tax is pointless as previously mentioned by someone else. The earth is still warming. As the large polluting countries like the U.S., China and russia etc are not collecting this tax.
