Warning- I was to receive a package I usually get from Canada Post due to my rural post office box. The company now assigned to deliver is called Straight Ship. Today I got an email saying my package was delivered. The photo was not my house. The package’s names were not mine. Boxes shown were all Amazon (not what I ordered) I had to call Straight Ship 5 times and they were no help. The company I ordered from is reshipping using a different service. I wish that Canada Post would deliver. I have a number of packages in limbo. Rural people have few choices as we only have postal boxes and home delivery is not possible. Government taxes only seem to be getting higher and services are in a steep decline.

Sounds like Canada Post still provides a better service than this private company

I had an order I was expecting. Received one box while I was home at lunch (approx 12:40). Opened it...only half my order. Thought maybe other part was send separately (it can happen but never has before. This is an autoship so used to it.)  
Got a call about 2 pm from an unknown number. Didn't answer they called right back. A lady 4 doors down (close address) had the rest of my order. Clearly marked with correct name, address and phone number. She was going out and had to leave it outside for me to pick up after work. Sat outside for 4+ hours...perishable.  
Called Purolator who stated it was my shipper's fault and even though I was home for the shipment they would not compensate because it could have been left out if it was left at the right address. An hour on hold to be told they wouldn't help me except file a complaint against the driver and it was my shipper's problem if the product was damaged.  
I am assuming my product is now unusable after being frozen. I have contacted the shipper to get more information and let them know Purolator won't compensate.  
My problem is...I was home...if I wasn't I would have known about the delivery and made arrangements for it to be taken inside. In my opinion this is a Purolator issue not my shippers and certainly not mine.  
I hung up very frustrated and disappointed.  
I get busy, human error etc but be prepared to make things right for your customer and make your driver's accountable. Don't use Purolator...end of rant.

For some packages I will get it shipped to my place of work. Especially right now during the high delivery season. I still get some delivered to my home but when I order higher ticket items I will get it shipped to work. They don't mind, maybe you can ask if it is OK?  
For porch pirates you van get a lockbox for your porch/front door that they can put them in. They can be a little pricy and sometimes asnif right now only available in the US or sold out but, I think they are a fantastic idea for home, especially when you do alot of online ordering.

I am just sad for everyone that there will be no christmas/holiday cards for anyone feom family that lives fat away. I know that you can send a digital card but we all know it's just not the same.  
 
And of course all those presents that are stuck. I myself had made 2 christmas orders on the 14th... they are still in limbo.

I get that we are all frustrated by the Canada Post Strike, it has disrupted pretty much everything I do at work, making my home life and professional life a nightmare.  
 
But lets all remember that none of your tax dollars go to Canada Post. They work purely on shipping fees.
