Hey anyone know what’s happening with Brandon transit? They are using mini buses now, and there is even less room. Anyone know how to start a petition to change the routes back to all being every half hour after 10 am? I mean I’d love if all routes were all on the half hour. Being over packed in a bus because if you miss it it’s an hour wait. It was below -25 this morning and the bus for route 5 left 10 people stranded down town this morning. Don’t know how this is more accessible for anyone.

They have more broken buses than they do ones that run, hence the use of the rental busses that are smaller. That is why several routes have changed to hourly service for parts of the day. Unless the city magically comes up with more finding for transit to order new buses at $500,000 and up a piece then nothing will change. You can sign all the petitions all you want it’s not going to change a thing.

Makes some sense but than why does route 15 get two buses in the morning ? If buses are broken each route should only get one. 15 gets to run every half hour

That is because not every route has been cut to hourly for that period of time. It’s only a select few. Maybe people should start asking city council or the Mayor those questions.

Find alternative arrangements. Starting a petition isn't going to increase their funding, which is essentially what needs to happen if they are to make any significant changes. Brandon Transit has been a leak in the city payroll for years simply because the city doesn't have the budget, or the demand, to really, do anything substantial with the service. Old buses, budget cuts over the years, increased wages and benefits and a lack of a sustainable customer base means they really are in trouble. No matter what they do, they always seem to fall short of commuter expectations. If Brandon was a large metropolis, then they would have the money to make more positive changes, but unfortunately they don't. They really are up against the wall here. Excellent folks, just crappy circumstances.
