I’m a 20 year old female living in Brandon. I am new into my Christian faith. I’m looking for friends to help me along my path to attend church and do bible studies together.

Many churches have a young adults group. I know Mcdiarmid Alliance Church does

On Jan 15, Converge (18-30 yrs old) is having a pizza night. I know they would welcome you!!  
I have heard great things about the group!! Do reach out to them!

I have a question, because it's outside of my frame of reference and I'm curious.  
 
Wouldn't you just join/socialize with the church you were at/with when you converted/was saved? How does this work for Protestants?  
 
And why would you *not* join the group that evangelized you/converted you to begin with?  
 
(For reference, I'm Catholic, and you just go to the local Catholic church. But that's clearly not the way other groups do things, so now I want to know!)  
 
Edit to add: I hear lots of good things about City Church from people from a variety of ages. That might be one to check out too!

Let me begin by congratulating and welcoming you to the Kingdom of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.  
 
In case you are looking out for true Christian friends, the only place you will find them is in your private communion with God.  
When you present that need to Him, He will point you to the right individuals (destiny helpers) to guide you in your spiritual journey.

Lots of churches including McDiarmid Alliance Church, Bethel, Cities Church and Calvary Temple have really good young adult ministries going on. Brandon University has Intervarsity Christian Fellowship on Monday Evenings. I believe they are on the socials of where they meet.  
 
Once a month, there's a Praise and Worship service geared towards young adults call Exalt. Check their socials (mainly Instagram) for the next time they are having it.
