Home Slice said "Boiled eggs in a bag have been around for a long, long time. I have been buying them because I don’t wanna boil them myself and then peel them. I can just reach in to the fridge and I have a protein snack right there right now. I won’t be buying them anymore for $9.29 a bag! "
So in a way, the price increase will actually end up saving you money - because you can buy the dozen eggs for $5 and boil them yourself now!
Convenience is always more expensive. If we want to keep our grocery prices down in this time of general increasing grocery prices, I think there are a number of things we can all do to decrease what we spend. Doing more of the 'prep' work for meals and snacks is one of the ways we can do that.
I could never get my hard boiled eggs quite right, until I used my oven rather than boiling. Put a dozen eggs in muffin tins, then bake at 325 for 20 mins. I usually do this after I have already used the oven for something else, so I don't heat it just for that. I have also done a half dozen in a toaster oven. The keep them back in the egg carton in the fridge.
