I have a co-worker that excessively uses a word over and over and over in daily convo’s about everything and anything. It’s driving me nuts! Anyone else have a situation like this? How did they handle it?

The word is “Potentially” they use it non f@$% stop! Can you not just say “Oh maybe” or “I think so” or I’m not sure???? Everything dam thing is “Potentially”!!!!

Even when I describe something! I can describe an item and what it’s used for and the reply is POTENTIALLY!! Are you kidding me?

Really, you're just going to have to get over it. It's not like they're using a word that is offensive or insulting.
They could be lacking a full vocabulary, so you could get a word a day calendar for the office, and share all the cool words they could be using instead.

is it used during your breaks ? is there somewhere you can go to get away from them ? maybe try ear plugs

I admit to being that person that uses certain phrases or words over and over. If someone uses one of my phrases on me it can catch me off guard and make me think. Perhaps using the word 'potentially" so often to the point it is almost inappropriate or awkward, it might tip them off that what they are dong is worthy of a cringe.

I would suggest having a conversation with the person, don't turn to passive aggressiveness in the hopes they'll get the hint.
