Just wondering if anyone else here has received any threatening emails? I got one recently saying I'm being watched. They claim to have pictures of me doing lewd things, supposedly by hacking into my computer, and are demanding payment in bitcoin with instructions etc. If you had anything to feel guilty about it could be quite shocking. Should something like this be reported and if so who would you report to?

I would suggest you ignore them. I got a few of them some time ago and ignored them. Now they come in quite regularly to my junk folder and I pay them no mind.

Just some lame attempt to scam people who have a guilty conscience. They send those emails out by the hundreds of thousands.

My parents had this happened to them this past Fall. They reported it to the RCMP. Stories about these types of emails were in the news in BC and Ontario.  
The news articles said to contact police about this type of thing.

You most definitely should notify BPS or RCMP. There have been quite a number of stories in the news (some local) of teens receiving these type of emails and committing suicide as a result. This is far worse than a Nigerian prince promising to give you money.

Block all spam emails so they can’t send from that address again. Do not click on any links or even open the email. Can tell spam by subject heading or hovering over email address.

Many have obvious spelling errors or names wrong.  
 
Move to spam. And make sure to regularly empty spam folder.

them if you don't know what they are about. They prey on everyone that has some form of skeleton in closet...they never say what specifically... they only generalize. They usually want you to send bitcoin to their untraceable account or they will release your "stuff" to the WWW.  
 
I always answer back and say,  
"I hope you will expose my info and the photos of me doing lewd acts, because I need the likes and shares! Great for marketing! Besides, it's nothing the world has not seen already, as I have plenty of $$ from releasing my own XXX photos/videos online".  
 
Never get a response back from that.
