In town, there's a path that runs from 34th St amd heads west along the rail line all the way to 50th. There's also an access point half way at Rosser and Fotheringham. A loop from the midway point to either end and back (use Rosser Ave or just double back the way you came) is about a mile. There's also a parking lot at 34th and Pacific.
You can also tromp down to the river once you reach the 50th St end - just follow the road over the rail line and stick close to the power lines (the power lines are a public right of way).
Out of town, the Brandon Hills are hard to beat. There's also decent trails in Minndosa around the dam.
Happy hiking!
Edit to add: I forgot to mention, to access the Fotheringham-50th portion of the trail, you need to go behind the playground. It's deceptive at first, but it opens up into a field and then closes back in to a wooded path. It's got a few spots that you'll want to make sure you have good shoes - there would have been old culverts thre back when it was part of the rail line, but it's just a huge divot lol.
Also, see if you can find the old footings for rail signals in the field and along the scrub line! It's an interesting little side quest.
If you're really adventuresome, you can also climb down to "the pipes" and explore a little run of water where the storm sewers drain to before heading under the rail line and into the golf course. If you kids, there's often frogs there.
Also, watch for garter snakes, deer, all kids of birds of prey, and other assorted critters!
