my mail delivery person doesn't even carry a bag anymore. He parks his canada post vehicle at the end of the street and walks to the end of the block with a couple of items in one hand, and then back to his vehicle to drive to the next block..such a difficult job, and no special education needed (college, university etc.) no wonder they are always on strike...what a difficult job

Have you ever done the job yourself? Have you actually been behind the scenes at the depot where the carriers get their loads? Have you completed the paperwork? Have you done it in +38 and -38 weather in an un-heated and un-cooled vehicle? Give your head a shake and be grateful that there are people who are willing and able to bring your mail to you. So many people people still depend  
on the mail for their cheques, doctor and operation booking letters, family news, etc. No need to be so rude.

I was talking to a mail carrier the other day that was doing the same thing. Walking the route with no mail deliver.  
 
I think this strike is shooting themselves in the foot because everytime they strike people find other ways to get things where they need to go and do not return to mail. Thus less mail for them to deliver.  
 
We definitely need a postal system, but something needs to be done to regain trust. In my neighbourhood we only have a community lockbox. Maybe these need to be put into older neighbourhoods because the current system has it s flaws.

The mailman here does same but explained that so many years on the job is having some problems with feet at times. Very nice person and still doing a gr8 job and gr8full to get mail delivered rite to the door. Yes we get delivery, and for how long as things are going.

Ask any of them how their feet, knees and backs are? Walking uneven surfaces, slipping on ice, trudging through snow when sidewalks are not shoveled (and mine does deliver mail if I can't get my walk done before I have to leave for work) and the occasional sprint when they need to get away from a dog. Their risks are real and even the repetition of walking that distance day after day is hard on their joints.

but you describing a workday for anybody not having a office job

First, the OP was being snarky to the mail carriers for always being on strike because of their "difficult job". From your statement, it sounds like you're comparing everyone outside of office workers has easy jobs.  
 
Second, there are thousands of non-office jobs that don't require you to walk outside in very cold or very hot weather, or avoid angry dogs.  
 
I've got no problem with mail carriers going street to street with their vans. It makes the work somewhat easier, where's the harm? Surely if something came up that made your work easier, you wouldn't say "Oh no, I'd like to work just as hard as I am now, thank you."?

I do agree with the statement in a other post that canada post shot themself in the foot this time . They held people hostage the first couple of times at Christmas time strikes - now most people don't care and with online services and direct deposit there are different options than Canada post. There are many jobs that require being on your feet all day rain and shine ! I know many letter carriers and I do know they get paid decent for not requiring any degree -

Time to end delivery. Rural farms never had it. Small towns never had it. Even average size towns don't have home / business delivery. Why do the larger cities need it?

Because small businesses exist and rely on daily mail.

Have no problem with that. With businesses perhaps they sign up .  
 
No reason for home delivery. Add boxes. Once a week.  
 
Encourage everyone direct deposit is safer.  
 
Rural areas same once a week.  
 
Doubts reason oh elderly, disabled, ,without cars, etc. realize these same people in rural areas have found ways to get their mail. No excuse.  
 
I also agree that an audit needs to be done and recommendations are implemented.  
 
Just my thoughts.
