I am told that FREON in not a problem unless it is leaking. If it is not leaking could it be that FREON is loosing its QUALITY to cool at its best  
level. My air condition runs perfectly but the house takes a long time to cool down.  
Could it be that the FREON is not the quality that it should be. You see I don’t know if FREON can lose it quality. Thanks. If you have a helpful answer please reply.

It can take central air a long time to drop the temp if you let the temp climb higher in the house. Better to set the desired temp in the morning. When your air is running lay a thermometer on top of one of your centrally located registers. It should be 8-11 degrees. An hvac guy can put gauges on your lines outside to see if it needs a top up.

Thx for response. So even it doesn’t have a leak it could use a top up. Like the Freon can evaporate or go down?

Friends had their AC topped up as the freon was very low , they had it checked because there was very little cooling and now AC cools home so much better and there was no leak. Professional did theres. Even vehicles sometimes need a top up of Freon.

Make sure the filter is cleaned every year it should be changed or at least cleaned.

So, my question is, if there is no leak where does the refrigerant go? My home system has been running for 25 years plus and has never need refrigerant. Still working as well as it always did.
