I travel over the 18th bridge multiple times a day, I’m starting to notice people going painfully slow! From the bottom north end of the 18th st bridge, all the way to Walmart is 60km/hr!! Continuing up the north hill aswell. I am constantly getting stuck behind people going 35-40km/hr. I understand if it’s pouring rain,snow etc… but unless there’s an eminent danger, PLEASE drive the appropriate speed limit.

yes people in Brandon drive extremely slow for ideal road conditions. Even in school zones, which are between hours of 8am-5pm, people drive at 20km/h, when its 30km/h.  
 
Even side streets being 50km/h, people still drive 30km/hr  
 
I find slow drivers more dangerous drivers, as they run stops signs frequently. Police need to start pulling them over and ticketing them.

It's all anecdote at the end of the day, but I find the opposite. One finds the occasional slowpoke but there are far more 60 in a 50 zone than there are 40s in a 50 zone.  
 
Also, I thought the school zones were in effect until 7pm. I'll have to look into that.

I’m quite sure it’s 30km/hr Mon-Fri 7am-5pm or 5:30. Something like that anyway lol, school zone I am happy to abide by 25/30kms, but in a regular 50 we gotta move along people!

The roads here are so crappy, as it is. And if you have an old car, why you do want to beat on some more?  
 
And the speed limit on the Keystone grounds is 30 km/h. What's with these people going through it to take a fast shortcut?

I myself have found that I am driving slower because of pedestrians not activating the lights at crosswalks or just stepping into the street. Bikes and scooters need to be more cautious when approaching intersections, if I had not been going at a slower speed and noticed a scooter approaching the intersection I was turning at I would have hit her. We need to be more cautious and aware of others on the streets.

are these drivers that tailgate you because you have  
a vehicle in front of you going 49 km instead of 50  
that people will cause accidents and as a guy who  
rides a motorcycle we really wish people would not  
do that.(why is everyone in a big hurry to get to the next red light) lol.

Going south down the North Hill is even worse. I'll finish up work, and be excited to go home, change, throw the bra off, eat and see the cats and then my excitement is immediately crushed by being stuck behind someone who pulled out of Outback going 45 in a 70.  
 
The number of stop sign runners has increased, too. I see folks blow through them on the daily.  
 
And, as someone who drives through them daily, I can confirm school zones in Brandon are M-F, Sept- June 8 am to 5 pm.

I am extremely cautious around motorcyclists on the road, having known people in fatal motorcycle accidents, and just common sense of the road. I always do my due diligence to give them plenty of space!

The old belief that the posted speed limit is the speed you must drive. It’s the maximum allowable speed you can travel. Not the required speed you must travel. Maybe just enjoy life and that extra 5 seconds you spend behind a more prudent driver can be made up some place or time in your day. Think of a person on a bike pedalling do they have to go the posted speed limit or else you are upset lol. Please think about your statement

The school zones are 30 km/h Monday to Friday September to June 8 a.m. to 5 PM

There are 2 extremes. There are those who are going 30km per hour in 70 km per zone for example. Then there are those who are going 80km per hour + in a 70 km per hour zone. I see this all the time on 1st street between Rosser Ave and Kircaldy Drive.  
 
Personally, I am more concern about those stopped at a green light for more then 10 seconds. Stop looking at your stupid phone (or holding it)! seems to be the problem.  
 
As for an earlier post about residential streets: Going 30km per hour instead of 50km would be more appropriate. At the some point, the city will make the speed limit 40km per hour for all residential streets.  
 
Just use common sense. Drive according to the weather and street conditions.

I wonder if folks really think about how much time they are saving when they complain about slow drivers.  
As an example, if you have an 8k (5 mile) commute then it will take you 6,84 minutes at 70kph and 10.68 at 45, and that is assuming no stops and a constant speed.  
So is it really essential for such a small difference, especially considering the extra fuel and perhaps added stress levels.  
Bear in mind also that the urban speed limit is 50 within Brandon.

You're right, of course, but there's also the difference between being on time and being late.  
 
For example, I drive down Rosser multiple times a day. If you get behind someone lollygagging, you miss the lights. And if you don't drive at an appropriate speed (i.e. something resembling the speed limit), you miss another light. And now you've added 3-5 min to your trip. Add another 3-5 min somewhere else, and now you're 5-10 min behind. This is not uncommon.  
 
So it seems somewhat ridiculous that a town that only takes 10 minutes to drive across at a normal speed can potentially take twice that if you get behind the right slow person, miss lights, and these days, encounter surprise construction. It's very frustrating.

Not sure why they use the 24 hour clock as most don't know it.

It’s best to match your speed to the traffic if it is not excessively fast. I find it difficult to believe there are that many “slow drivers”. At the end of the trip, what difference does a few minutes make. The dangerous drivers are the impatient ones, because, anybody in their way is an obstacle.

if you have a dealine to be somewhere either work, appointment or a recreation/family event,  
 
leave earlier. consider into your time to leave " traffic may be heavy or construction may be happening or police may have stopped or slowed traffic for an accident etc."

Doesn't matter if you are at a red light using your phone at a red light can get you a ticket... you are supposed to be in control of a vehicle not checking your status..

There’s 2 lanes. If ya wanna go faster then just switch lanes. There are far more important things to cry about than someone going slower .

Brandon needs portable camera radars.  
Winnipeg has these where they put them in unmarked vehicles unattended and can move them to different locations. I'm sure they would be paid for in no time.  
In about 2 minutes i seen 2 vehicles go threw a red light. Im driving just over 50 and people are flying by me. This is why there is accidents and people are getting hurt

The amount of lanes usually doesn’t help. Even with 2/3 lanes I often find myself trailing people going 30-45 in each lane so I cannot just go around. Even on 18th going from north to south end I often get stuck behind a wall of slow pokes lol. I always leave with extra time, so I’m never late, but it’s the fact that sometimes it’s just painfully slow. If you relate great if you don’t that’s okay too! I just wanted to see if other people felt the same way? Or if maybe I’m dramatic lol. Safe travels all!

Just please be mindful of those that are new drivers. If you see a Novice Driver sign in a back window please just be kind. There are a bunch of students who just got their learners that are out on the roadways and will not necessarily be comfortable yet going the speed limit.

what people from countries torn apart by war or other awful things that have come here are saying about this topic. If all we can complain about is a few of the drivers on our roads, I think we should be grateful. My opinion, I could be wrong.

How bad at math are you people?  
 
If one person drives 40km/h from the Shoppers Mall down to the Corral Centre it'll take them just under 7 minutes if they catch every light.  
 
If someone drives the same distance at 60km/h it'll save them 2 minutes and 18 seconds.  
 
The expression "time is money" does not apply in a rural farming community. Slow down.
