Can anyone walk me through the general process of applying and using and payment using student aid? I start in September 2026 and would like to look into this option. Ive look online and read all that good stuff, im just looking to hear from anyone who has firsthand experience. Any help or advice is appreciated!

My girl applied over a year ago and she’s still waiting for a response. When we call, we are told application has been received, be patient, we are far behind

Applications for the fall 2026 term are not up yet, says sometime in June you can apply. The list of information you need when applying is here https://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/msa/applying-for-student-aid/what-information-do-i-need.html  
6-8 weeks to get processed. Just check the website daily to see when applications can be submitted.

Get all your information ready  
-banking information  
Also  
- university information  
- course etc  
- approximate amounts they will ask for so check out on University /College site they usually show it on website.  
Examples:  
-tuition  
-student services (student fees)  
-books etc  
-travel if leaving province  
 
Also previous education  
- high school attended etc  
 
You may also need your Assessment from CRA if you filed tax return  
 
Read up on the site previous op gave you and ,be prepared with everything they ask for and it goes fairly easy .  
Also after you do file check up your application every few days,it shows update and also if you are missing information needed to process your application very important.  
Most important keep a copy of your application for future reference. It will be useful to refer to next year if you apply again.
